Description
The WiFi Extender by D-Link emits a signal at two frequencies. It provides higher speeds compared to single and can connect more devices. The 2.4Ghz frequency is the most common and has a long range. The 5Ghz frequency provides faster speeds than 2.4Ghz but is more susceptible to obstacles (e.g. walls) that reduce its range. This difference, as well as its more limited use, helps reduce interference from other networks. The repeater can provide up to 1800Mbps in total to the devices connected to it. Indicatively, a 4K high-resolution movie requires about 25Mbps. The speed that each connected device will have depends on the distance, obstacles, the number of other devices connected, the number of other networks in the same area, etc. It is Wi-Fi 6 generation, the most modern Wi-Fi standard that offers speeds up to 40% higher than Wi-Fi 5. It coordinates communication with connected devices to consume less battery and works better in environments with multiple Wi-Fi devices. Ideal for homes with many smart devices. The connection via ethernet cable offers a speed of 1000Mbps (also known as Gigabit), which is the maximum speed that ethernet can support. It is usually encountered in professional environments where transferring large files (e.g. high-definition videos) is a common occurrence, and in repeaters that support corresponding high WLAN speeds.

I connected it wirelessly 10 meters away from the router with one wall in between, and the performance dropped to 1/3. I had to connect it with a cable, and it had full speed in this room. However, it loses strength through each wall.

Did you find this review helpful?Even though at first it was perfect, after 2 weeks it started disconnecting from the WiFi and I had to reboot it or even factory reset it! It was so promising at first, but by now I'm very tired of doing all the work to reconnect it with the WiFi. So I don't recommend it if you don't have an ethernet cable directly to the router you are using the internet from.

Signal improvement by 10%-20% compared to the old repeater, but the most important thing is that the speeds it provides are 20-30Mbps higher. The measurements I mentioned were taken in difficult areas (including a blind spot... which it "unblinded"), where we want the difference. And this repeater makes the difference. Highly recommended.
