Description

The textbook titled "Development Across the Life Span", which is classified as Evolutionary Psychology based on its content, gathers a series of characteristics that make it both a highly valuable scientific textbook and a practical and useful intellectual work for many. These characteristics have posed a challenge in terms of translating them into the Greek language and Greek reality. Specifically, the textbook "Evolutionary Psychology - Development Across the Life Span" does the following:

- Introduces the reader to the concept and content of lifelong development in a scientifically valid and persuasive manner. This direction in evolutionary psychology does not only mean that humans - while essentially remaining the same - simply develop and change throughout their lives. The deeper meaning is that a complete understanding of human development requires studying the entire range of life - in discontinuous stages or continuous developmental achievements - and that no stage can be considered more significant than another. The entire range of development is important, and its overall image is shaped and maintained through projections into the future (e.g., what form a behavior will have 30 years later) and reflections on the past (e.g., searching for the origin and sources of a phenomenon).

- Adopts a style that combines scientific rigor with immediacy. It presents, in other words, valid data from the most recent research in various areas of human development while also attempting to "converse" with the reader and convey the research data into real life. This goal is achieved through the presentation of real cases of children and adults in various phases of their development and through the provision of practical guidelines for addressing issues that concern children and adults, parents and educators, and ultimately all of us.

Based on these characteristics and its content, this textbook can be the subject of study for - and is addressed to - students, parents, educators, and mental health professionals, in other words, individuals who study and are interested - for different reasons - in human development. And one more thing: this textbook is addressed to all of us, regardless of our role, for a simple reason: it describes human development and evolution throughout the entire life cycle, in other words, it describes a "journey" in which we all participate.
