Description

The Metaracer shoe is designed for runners who want to maximize their fast training and races. The upper part is designed to allow as much airflow as possible, which helps keep feet cool. This cooling provided by the shoe means that your body doesn't need to expend even more energy to keep you cool. The upper part consists of special sections that remove any trace of water that may enter the shoe. The Guidesole technology features an improved toe-spring shape. These two elements combine to reduce ankle joint movement, helping runners save energy with each step. Combined with a carbon fiber plate in the midsole, this shoe creates a rolling motion that really propels the foot forward, creating a unique experience.

I always get the size that I usually get with ASICS and I did a check before, but they have a lot of air in the front. Instead of 42, I would like 41.5. I have run with them twice and unfortunately, they bother me to the point of causing blisters in the front and towards the inner side (metatarsal towards the big toe). The discomfort starts from the first few steps. I will try them again with different socks. Maybe it's also because they are too airy in the front and in width. They are not suitable for long distances, unfortunately, Nike shoes definitely outperform them, I don't feel great shock absorption. But for 5km, for something extra compared to minimalist shoes, they are a good solution. I didn't really run with them because I had blisters and a twisted foot from warming up. I will try them in something fast directly next time. Aesthetically, they are beautiful. And the materials seem good and durable.
After a few months of use, my feet have gotten used to the shoes in terms of blisters. Not that they don't bother me, but as a runner, my foot often develops calluses and slight numbness. They are not for relaxed running or long distances, but for sprints, fast tempo runs (max 10km), and generally anything with speed, they are very good. They have replaced my minimal flats

I ordered them without trying them on, based on my usual size (42.5 or 9 US), but I realize that it would be better to go down a size to 42 as they have a loose fit and their design is somewhat elongated. However, their fit is very good and I feel stable in them. As soon as I took them out of the box and put them on, I felt strange under the metatarsal area as they curve at that point due to their GUIDESOLE design, something that I got used to after a while. This particular technology helps you to "roll" faster and in combination with the carbon plate to push you faster forward. You realize this when you decide to move quickly. At slow paces (over 5 minutes per km) it is uncomfortable and it "pushes" you to go faster on its own to take advantage of the shoe's capabilities, which is the combination of low weight, carbon plate, GUIDESOLE design, and low sole. To make the shoe work, you need to move at a pace of under 4:30 minutes per km, and if you are able to go down to 3:30 minutes per km, then it becomes a rocket and makes you move faster than you feel you are going. However, I believe the shoe is not suitable for a marathon (unless you are a championship-level athlete) as its sole does not have the necessary millimeters to support such a distance compared to the other "super shoes" on the market (Vaporfly Next%, Endorphin Pro, Adizero Adios Pro, Hyperion Elite 2, etc.), it is more suitable for distances of 3-5-10 km, with the half marathon being the limit of the distance that can offer you some comfort and protection. Generally, you do not have any particular benefit from the shoe's foam as you do with Nike's Zoom X, for example. Their outer sole is covered with rubber, I did not try them on wet pavement, on dry pavement they offer excellent grip and on a track you feel very stable in fast turns, something that I consider makes them suitable for interval training. Also, their fabric will offer very good breathability during the summer months and in combination with a small hole they have in the front, they will keep your foot cool.
