The tool is amazing. It is powerful and very well constructed for the money it costs. I have been using it for five years, working it quite hard, I would say. Besides wood, I have also used it extensively on metal for rust removal and finishing. Its main flaw, and personally I would say a very serious one, is the lack of support from Ryobi, both in terms of service and spare parts. I have had to replace the base twice on mine and had to adapt another company's product, since I couldn't find the original one anywhere here in Greece. I would also like to emphasize that it is not compatible with any other company's sander. If I have to spend €25-30 for a base to import it for a €60 machine, then I say no. It's not worth it. Besides, when the time comes to replace the carbon brushes, it will be shelf or trash time again. Now the rubber around the base has also worn out, causing the rotation to not work properly. I have put some electrical tape on it, but it won't hold. In short, while the sander still works even though it has given me a hard time, you can't find spare parts anywhere, especially the essential consumables like the base and carbon brushes, making the tool useless because of them. Personally, if I had known this, I would have chosen a different brand where at least these two consumables would be available, as they are the ones that wear out with use.
