The i30 Baras Solid by HJC is a jet helmet, which, thanks to its open design at the bottom of the face, can be put on and taken off with ease. It is considered one of the lightest types of helmets, however, it leaves a large area of the face uncovered, therefore it is less safe compared to a full-face helmet. It is made of composite fibre, that is, from synthetic fibers that make it flexible and resistant to shock absorption. It fastens with a microlock, which allows you to fasten it easily and quickly. Additionally, it features a sun visor, which is an internal sunshade film, like glass, for protection from the sun.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
Good quality construction inside and out, easy closure and use of the visor, easy removal of the visor. Installed intercom that works very well.
It has 2 negatives: when the visor is closed, it presses more on the cheeks. It is very annoying and needs to be slightly open.
The medium size is exactly right for me, wearing a small Arai (54-55).
It is also quite heavy - but probably at this price, everything is like that.
Negatives:
1. For some reason, the air passes strongly into the eyes, causing pain (I'm talking about cold air). I have never experienced this issue with any other jet helmet, even cheaper ones.
2. With the air vent closed, you feel cold on the top of your head. This has never happened to me before.
3. It doesn't fit in the seat. This is also the first time this has happened to me because my scooter has a large space in depth/height. Maybe I should have studied the dimensions in the specifications before buying it. I didn't even consider that I would have such an issue.
Positives:
1. The construction quality of both the helmet and the visor seems good.
2. It takes pinlock, which I have installed and it works perfectly.
Conclusion:
> Don't buy it for winter use and don't buy it if you don't have a top case.
> Buy it if you want to wear it in all seasons except winter, if you specifically want a jet helmet with pinlock compatibility (of course, what's the point of pinlock if you can't wear the helmet in winter), and if you don't mind placing it in your top case.
P.S: As for the size, it fit well in the size I always wear (large), although it was a bit tight on the chin (it will loosen over time). I didn't mention the "noise" issue at all because we're talking about a jet helmet, so you can't avoid it.
