As a player (and DM) for many years, this particular edition is the best out of both book series. Of course, it requires someone with experience to run the game, but this specific book is all you need to get started. It contains all the rules and explanations, as well as easy character creation. It should not be missing from any library. Even if you play older editions, many ideas may prove useful to you.
