This review is about the type kit: Kit (XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS)

Difficult evaluation. I don't know which camera to compare it to because it is in a market segment that everyone should evaluate whether it is worth buying or not. Generally, Fujifilm does not have a strong presence in Greece, they are not sold by any major chain and you never find any deals. The best in this field is Nikon, but at this price range, you might consider the Z5/Z6 and maybe the Z6ii in the near future, so the comparison may be unfair technically but fair to the consumer.

In terms of image quality, initially I have no complaints, very beautiful colors in JPEG, very low noise at high ISO with nice consistent grain, very good dynamic range, very fast burst mode (although I don't understand why it has a crop in e-shutter but okay, I don't use it anyway). In videos, things change a bit, so much money for 8-bit 4:2:0 in a modern camera at this price? Only 4k30? The IBIS is not as good as the X-T4 and sometimes I think it's not better than the VR on Nikon lenses. Worse autofocus than Nikon (not by much though) and far from the best on the market like Sony. The only positive thing is the high bitrate in recording and the fact that it has Flog and the very nice film simulations of Fuji, in general, I prefer the colors much more than Sony's, it gives a nice atmosphere and a filmic look without effort and editing, but in low light, it doesn't match Sony and their codecs. But what can you do if Sony's colors are the way they are...

Ergonomically, I don't know if I like it because it tries to be Nikon unsuccessfully, and it loses the style and practicality that other Fuji cameras had. Nikon suits me much better both ergonomically and in the menu, and it doesn't have anything from Fuji to attract me in this area. I won't go into analyzing the other features. The only thing I want to say is that I regret the purchase even though we are talking about a very good and quality camera with the same image as an X-T4. Because its features are very close to those of the Nikon Z50 that I bought later, on sale for 1000€ with 2 kit lenses (which perfectly cover my needs for my hobby and my travels, something small, light, and fast), and it doesn't really offer enough to justify paying so much more for someone who doesn't necessarily want Fujifilm. Someone who is professionally or even more seriously involved in photography should go for the X-T4 or full-frame Sony/Nikon. At 1500€ with the 18-55 lens, it is in a strange position. There, everyone should judge for themselves if it's worth it. For me, it wasn't worth it because a better ergonomically Nikon Z50 covers my basics plus a very sharp telephoto lens, 500€ cheaper that I can later invest in another lens. What you gain with the X-S10 is slightly better image quality and 26mp vs 21mp, film simulations, 240fps vs 120fps 1080p video and FLog, IBIS?, better lens range. However, it loses in autofocus and quite a bit in ergonomics. At 1200€ with the 18-55 lens, I believe it would be much more competitive, at a price where you can find it with the 15-45 lens, the worst of Fuji. In other countries, Fujifilm has a different presence than Nikon, but my evaluation is based on the prices and availability in Greece. You can't find it with interest-free installments, for example, nor on sale. For someone who already has Fuji lenses and wants basic features and good image quality, it is a worthy choice at 1000€ for the body alone and they will enjoy it very much.

This review is about the type kit: Kit (XF 16-80mm F4 R OIS WR)

I have it for 5 weeks. Honest for its price, it's worth every penny.
User-friendly, fast autofocus even in low light.
The use of Dynamic Range is very satisfactory in difficult lighting conditions.
Amazing properties in video shooting. One of the positives is that you can have different saved settings in video than in photography.
Amazing options in 240p, 120p usage.
The customization of the buttons by the user's choice is a plus, I believe. It helped me a lot in choosing exactly what I need, when I need it, without much talk and searching.
I also liked the options in focus peaking, you can choose highlights on the edges of objects or the classic way of old SLR cameras to focus manually.
Also, I use old analog lenses (vintage lens) with the corresponding adapters (up to €15 each) and the IBIS does an amazing job.
Photography with shutter speed and below 1/20 with completely open aperture (f/1.8 or f/2.8) and there is no chance of it being blurry.
Now, for the "kit" lens that comes in the package, the Fx 16-80 f/4, it takes a whole chapter to dedicate to its positives.
The bokeh after 50mm resembles that of the prime lenses I use (mir 1B, Helios 44-2, Tair11A, Jupiter 37A, Canon FD 50mm, f/1.8, etc.).
In combination with the IBIS and the lens' OIS, you can take sharp photos with an open aperture even at a speed of 1/8.
We said this lens needs its own chapter.

Update: Awarded now as "BEST BUY CAMERA (APS-C) 2021-2022" by EISA.
Perhaps the best crop sensor camera at the moment. Amazing Fuji quality, very user-friendly menu, fast autofocus, and precise.
Ideal for all-around use but also for demanding users.
I have been a Nikon & Sony user for years, but this camera is exceptional!
I highly recommend it without reservation!
