Many many years ago, there lived six sisters in ancient Greece. They were born in Karyes, a village near Sparta, and for this reason they were known to everyone as the Caryatids. They loved each other so much that as they grew up, they wished to Zeus to always keep them together. To fulfill their wish, Zeus made them hold the roof of the Erechtheion, the temple located on the Acropolis of Athens, with their heads, transforming them into statues. They were the most beautiful statues of the time! All day long they stood still and silent, gazing, but at night they came to life, singing, dancing, telling jokes, and all of Athens could hear them laugh. But this joy was not meant to last for long. An English lord, Elgin, who visited the Acropolis, saw them and admired them so much that the idea came to his mind to steal the six Caryatids and take them with him to his homeland...
