The textbook is divided into four parts. The first, after a brief overview of the history of maritime tourism, refers to the natural and social environment of maritime tourism. The second proceeds to analyze the typology of maritime tourism, presenting the various forms and activities of maritime tourism with reference to case studies and best practices from around the world. The third part analyzes the effects of maritime tourism on the economy, society, culture, and the environment. It also extensively discusses issues of marine pollution and the natural and anthropogenic hazards that arise in maritime tourism and ways to address them. Finally, the fourth part refers to the public bodies involved in the field of maritime tourism, the Greek institutional framework, and the policies of the European Union. It also refers to methods and techniques for managing maritime tourism.
