This book was written based on and starting from the needs of the current educational system, which requires candidates not only to have cognitive training on contemporary concepts of social concern but also the ability to penetrate, study, and process texts where intellectuals, journalists, scientists, etc., express thoughts and take positions on various issues.

The book includes all the thematic units of all three grades of high school. Each thematic unit is approached through relevant texts, drawn from both the press and contemporary literature. The selection of texts was made based on the need for students to become familiar with text types and all kinds of texts. The goal is for the student to be able to penetrate the meaning of the texts, in order to draw ideas and arguments for speech production. The texts are also offered for processing on comprehension and semantic development exercises, as well as exercises on all textual indicators (linguistic, lexical, grammatical-syntactic, methods of persuasion, logical reasoning, speech organization, style, etc.). As the texts interact with each other, the student becomes familiar with different types and kinds of texts with common thematic axes, practices comparison and evaluation processes of the approaches observed in each text, and identifies similarities and differences. The thematic units are enriched with tables, photographs, diagrams, cartoons, so that the student learns to "read" texts that are not or are not entirely based on speech.
