Description

In Antarctica rise the wind-swept Mountains of Madness, which hide behind them the horrific city of the Great Old Ones, which was already ancient when life was born on the planet. Madness, terror, and death lurk among the towering spires, trapped in ice and snow.
The "Mountains of Madness" is considered by many to be H.P. Lovecraft's masterpiece, as it explains the nature and origin of the Great Old Ones, their descent to the newborn Earth, and the creation of the human species. It also interprets the origin of the dreadful Shoggoths, the Mi-Go, the inhuman Kadath, and all the elements that make the Cthulhu Mythos so terrifying and fascinating.
The volume also includes two of the author's finest and most representative short stories, the mysterious "The Horror at Red Hook" and the nightmarish "The Colour Out of Space".

Reviews

  • Very good story, something like the thing but it has its own interest because it takes place in 1930, it just has a lot of descriptive detail to the point of disgust, but it is logical from the perspective that it needs to describe the caves and everything that the characters see since it is not a movie.
