This book is aimed at those who teach and learn Greek as a second or foreign language. It is a textbook that focuses on Erasmus students, EILC, students of other Greek language learning programs (e.g. Summer Language Fellows) who belong to the beginner level (A1-A2) and generally to intensive and short courses for learning Modern Greek.

The goal of the book is to help learners acquire basic skills so that they can respond to real communicative situations and have an indicative understanding of Greek culture and civilization.
The writing of the handbook took into account the corresponding Detailed Program of the University of Athens as well as the language proficiency levels of the CEF.

The book consists of 20 Units - Lessons, which cover various communicative situations with current topics and present all the necessary grammatical phenomena for these levels.

The material is written in a direct and friendly language and does not require prior knowledge of Modern Greek. It is accompanied by images, sketches, and songs that aim to make the language learning journey and the acquaintance with Greek culture even more vivid. The exercises selected cover both grammar and vocabulary as well as production and comprehension skills in oral and written speech.

The book is accompanied by a CD with listening comprehension exercises, as well as an appendix of solutions, making it suitable for self-study.
