Description

This extremely timely book is being released at a time when the issue of new border changes and population exchanges in the Balkans between Serbia and Kosovo is being discussed. Additionally, while Turkey's revisionist and expansionist policy is at a crucial juncture, with the simultaneous goal of violent change of Greece's territorial status, the terms of its sovereignty in the Aegean island complexes, and the restriction and violation of our sovereign rights in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Alexandros P. Mallias, among other things ambassador to Washington, Skopje, and Tirana, raises the following issues:
- Turkey's revisionist expansion, the questioning of Greek sovereignty, and the violation of Greek borders.
- The doctrine of national security against conventional military challenges and asymmetric warfare. The lesson of Evros.
- Does the principle of non-alteration of borders apply? What exactly happened in the Balkans? Why should we be concerned about a new border change between Serbia and Kosovo? The interests of the United States, Russia, and the European Union. Weighing our national interest.
- How was the right to self-determination and secession reconciled with the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of states?
- Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia, and North Macedonia. Assessment of our neighbors' stance in the event of a conflict with Turkey. Questions about the effectiveness of our policy towards Tirana.
- Turkey and Greece: does the law of the strong prevail or the power of the Law?
- In addition to invoking, the conversion of International Law into action is necessary, and the immediate strengthening of our defense capabilities and diplomatic collaborations is required.

The diplomat-author considers peaceful resolution of differences with Turkey as the only way forward. He simultaneously concludes that strengthening national defense, along with effective diplomacy, is the best investment in peace, which is undermined daily by aggressive and revisionist Turkey.
