Description

The Camping Coleman Cortes Octagon 8 family tent has a unique design with 8 sides and a 360° view. Six out of the eight sides open completely, allowing air and light to enter the tent. The remaining two sides have doors, one of which has hinges that function as a real door, making entry and exit from the tent quick and easy.

Construction

The Octagon 8 tent provides maximum living space, as it is a single large room while the removable partition curtain can transform it into two separate areas.

Double Canvas

The tent contains 2 separate layers, which are placed one on top of the other on its roof or upper part.

Usually, the first layer has waterproofing, while the second is a layer that allows air passage and offers better ventilation in the tent.

What does the waterproof rating on camping tents indicate?

The waterproofing of a tent indicates how much water the outer fabric can repel. It is measured in millimeters (mm) and refers to how many millimeters of a vertical water column (and thus pressure) one square centimeter of fabric can withstand without being penetrated by water.

The higher the degree of waterproofing, the less breathable the fabric, and thus the warmer the tent. Widely used waterproofing values range from 500mm to 10000mm. Theoretically, any fabric with waterproofing >1000mm is considered waterproof. For example, a summer tent may have waterproofing from 500 to 1500mm.

Fiberglass frame

The frame made of fiberglass is a common choice for the construction of camping tents. It is a lightweight and durable material, made from fiberglass fibers that are usually coated with polyester to protect them from water and moisture.

Super choice at 330€ it had. It is a small cottage. The door opens easily even for 2-year-old children thanks to the patent with the handle all around it. It comfortably fits 2 single and one double mattress. Its 15sqm are fully functional. You can move around standing up. The management could be done in different ways besides just one, but it's okay, it doesn't matter. It sets up easier than it seems. Quite cool. I don't know how it performs in the rain. In the wind we had, with two ropes and four pegs that I had put, it was fine. After we survived, I put the rest of the pegs. The pegs it comes with are stainless steel. The power socket is great. Packing it up can be a bit intimidating due to its volume, but it eventually fits in the suitcase. You can only open and close the windows from the outside. I would like it to have screens on the doors as well, but that's a minor issue. If it lasts for eight or ten years, it will be great.

Innovation is the door and main reason for purchase for some. SUPER comfortable. Assembly takes about 15 minutes with 2 people (the second person only to pull the cover at the same time) - Disassembly takes 10 minutes - although many told me that it seems complicated, it is not at all! I assembled it alone in 11 minutes. The steel pipes are a great advantage! You don't have to deal with bars that bend at the joints and break. The pipe connectors are all color-coded for quick understanding of where each goes, and their application is click-in and click-out. A sense of solidity throughout the frame. The transport bag with wheels, Teflon floor, and handles on both sides prepares you for finding something very high-quality inside, and it is true. We will probably spend many years together.

The tent is very easy to set up (better with 2 people just for lifting). It is the coolest tent you can get and you can choose which of the 6 (!) windows to open depending on the wind. It is also very spacious for a family of 4, as it has vertical "walls" and all of its 15 square meters are useful unlike some tunnel-type tents where the space is useless at the bottom. You can finally stand upright everywhere in this tent. The door that opens with plastic hinges is a great advantage and I wonder why other brands don't adopt it. Mine also has a special entrance with a zipper for electricity/cables. The construction quality is quite above average, but it has not yet been tested in wind or rain.
Disadvantages: It is bright, the kids wake up instead of at 9+ like with the previous tent, now it's at 8.
Disadvantages: The windows only open from the outside. The interior fabric that divides it in half can only be "cut" in the middle, so it is not functional because the mattresses don't fit (easily solved with a trick, but I think a unified space would be better).
If you're considering it for a season other than summer, forget it, it is very cool.
Overall, very satisfied with the purchase, would buy it again.
