Description

"My name is Lacrima Cristi Rougio, but despite my pompous name, which should inspire respect, secretly everyone calls me Maledetta, which means cursed. I was born in Sardinia, an island with a peculiar wild air, inhabited by a race of short, active, and brave people, whose mysterious roots are inexplicable. When I look back at my own beginning, I see that it was anything but ordinary..."

Through the adventures of an unusual woman, a Greek from Magna Graecia (Greater Greece) of 1850, important themes are addressed, such as our primary fundamental relationships with our parents and God, the hypocrisy of society and the Church, anger, hatred and revenge, love and romance, our very personal relationships, and forgiveness as a way of life and a need for peace.

The heroine of the novel, a sworn enemy of herself, married to the businessman-winemaker Angelos Rougios, has gone through a traumatized adolescence, a wasted youth, and a painful maturity. Now, incapable of dreaming, feeling joy, and finding satisfaction, she finally confronts the demons she has been nurturing inside her for fifty years and embarks on a painful journey towards self-awareness.
