Magic in the Greco-Roman world is a subject of broader interest. One of the most important categories of ancient magic is related to erotic desire. The aim of this study is to provide a comprehensive picture of erotic magical practices and the associated sexuality, as recorded in magical papyri of erotic themes. By studying the erotic texts of magical papyri, similarities in thematic and linguistic aspects are highlighted, as well as a structural uniformity, as evidenced by their comparison with selected texts of ancient Greek literature, which characterize these written testimonies serving the common goal of people, erotic success. Literary texts with elements of erotic magic are further removed from reality - the use of magic in these texts primarily aims to create a dramatic atmosphere - compared to the texts of magical papyri, the use of which was associated with the real needs of people. In this context, the social dimension of sexuality is also presented through the triptych of magician-perpetrator-victim, in order to present the actions of each and, specifically, their social position, as long as these elements are highlighted by the erotic texts of magical papyri.
