This still unfinished book, like many of my other books, will be indescribable. That is, I don't know which category to classify it in: collection of articles? studies on rebetiko music? autobiographical notes? personal memories? libel? And since I don't know what it is, I don't know (much less) which part of the Word I serve. Despite my confusion, I am obliged to give the reader a guideline. This book contains strictly my personal opinions on the complex subject "Underworld / Rebetiko / Hashish / Prison / Slang (etc.)" - a subject that is constantly getting more confusing. Although I am minimally interested in bibliographic classifications, I would define "Agio Chasiski" as a folkloric work. Of course, there is always a reason to write a book. As an author, as an artisan, I would like to say that, by writing the following articles, I mainly faced two questions: what is the subject of this book? -and- what should be the style of this book? I think that I am writing "Agio Chasiski" in order to strike a blow to the rebetological mythology that oppresses our youth.
