Greece, as is known, is located in the zone called temperate. In the earthly zone where the climate is neither excessively hot nor excessively cold. But taking into account that the extent of the Greek Peninsula reaches from its northernmost point (at the borders of the Balkan States) to the southernmost, Gavdos, it has a length of almost 800 kilometers and a width from the westernmost point to the easternmost point of about 1,000 kilometers, we see that it is natural for its climate to vary considerably from place to place. From the northern height of the place and from the distance from the westernmost place to the easternmost. 

The differences in climate also vary according to the geological formation of each place (open plain, height from the sea, formation such that the place is protected by mountains or hills from the north). Thus, it is natural, apart from the General Climate, to have a Local Climate which, together with the other data, determines the success of the type of cultivation. It is also natural for the Greek land to accept the cultivation of a wide range of different plants, from annuals to perennial trees.
