Description
The i90 Hollen by HJC is a flip-up helmet, widely known as "flip-up" or "openable" as the front part of the helmet can be lifted. Because it is openable, it does not offer the same level of safety as a full-face helmet. It is usually a convenient choice for people who make many short trips with several stops daily. It is made of thermoplastic, a reinforced hard material of high strength. It fastens with a microlock, which allows you to fasten it easily and quickly. The helmet has European safety certification "ECE 22.05", which ensures that the helmet is tested for drop, impact, and object penetration. The package includes an anti-fog film, an additional accessory for the helmet visor that prevents it from fogging up. It is placed on the inner side of the helmet and is useful during the winter months. Additionally, it features a sun visor, which is an internal sunshade film, like glass, for protection from the sun.

Reviews

I have had it for a "full" month with almost daily use. The plus side is that it includes an anti-fog membrane with good application on the visor - mostly at least... so it is included in the purchase price... Very good fit on the head, something it is known for to a certain extent if I understand correctly. The mechanism for flipping up the front is very convenient and it has a good ventilation system with the existing buttons (front and top), while it is convenient that it has removable and washable parts. It is not bothersome in the rain and it does not let the cold in. (It is recommended to use a neck warmer (1 or 2) at the same time for air and cold protection initially, and for rainwater immediately after)
On the negative side, the weight affects it for sure and inevitably after a period of use (e.g. 30'+ for me), especially if you frequently and intensely move your head to check blind spots when changing lanes on the road. Another negative is the aerodynamic noise, noticeable at speeds of 80km/h and above, and very annoying in cases of maintaining speeds of 100km/h+ for long periods of time.
In the "suspicious"/"under observation" points, the fact that sometimes the front closure needs to be repeated - quite likely because I almost always wear it with 2 neck warmers - a thin windproof one from TucanoUrbano and a thicker one together - something that sometimes gets in between the helmet and the microlock closure and occasionally prevents the "click" sound that is heard from the front when it is properly closed to the rest of the helmet...
Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experience so far with this helmet and as a rather low-budget option, I think it is quite good. If you can afford and have more money to spend, then go for top-end Shoei and Arai helmets, something that I anticipate and plan to do in the future as well...

Did you find this review helpful? From full face helmets that I am used to, I felt the weight of this one, but otherwise I am very satisfied with the purchase. It has a very good fit and its mechanisms work very well. The only thing I didn't like in terms of quality is its visor, but again, for its price, I can't complain as it is worth it.

After two months of use, I can say that the helmet has served me very well and it is a good choice for its price. The only negatives I have noticed so far are the excessive aerodynamic noise. And when I say excessive, I mean to the maximum degree!!! The xr1100 I had before had the same noise as the i90 at 80 in double the kilometers. And the strap, even though I have it tightened all the way, is slightly too big and I believe it doesn't tighten completely
