Description

"Among the rocky crevices with veins of nephrite in the Taklamakan desert, lives a beetle of the Tenebrionidae family who, when it says plits-plits, wants to say splat-splat, and when it says splat-splat, wants to say plits-plits. We pass over these small insects completely ignoring them, without even realizing that this sign of intelligence of the beetle of Taklamakan essentially encompasses the most genuine human act, more characteristic of our species even than laughter, the condition on which scientific hypotheses, art, and social life are based: the ability to lie."

There are microscopic incidents that, without anyone realizing it, have the power to completely change the universe. And there are famous historical events so random that their outcome would be completely different simply due to a slight change in the direction of the wind. "The Book of Small Wonders" is a sample of these magnificent but also microscopic events. It is a detailed catalog of marvelous events. It is a journey that starts from the depths of our drawers, under our beds, through the false ceiling of our bedroom, and reaches the farthest galaxies. It is a teratology or a Theology handbook. Or, to be more precise, it may not be any of these at all. In any case, one thing is certain, it is not the book you expected. But it is the book you dreamed of.

The translation is a product of the literary translation and editing workshop from Spanish to Greek organized and coordinated by Konstantinos Paleologos and Anastasia Gialantzis at the Abanico Center for Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan Language in two periods: October 2017-April 2018 and October 2018-March 2019.
