Description

Pharmaceutical Law is part of Health Law, which is currently being shaped at European level. The constantly changing environment in the field of medicine and health, due to scientific innovations, increased demands for duration and quality of life, as well as economic and social factors, requires not only the description of legal provisions and regulations, but also the highlighting of the dynamics of future developments, something that the author fully understands and seeks with the 4th revised edition of Pharmaceutical Law.

Starting with the analysis of the term "drug market", which was adopted in 2004 by the European Union during the review of Pharmaceutical Legislation and the general legal environment at European level and Greek legislation on drug trade, the author then approaches the framework governing drug advertising and the limits within which it can operate, drug destruction, as well as drug patents, including generic drugs. The book focuses mainly on the legislation that determines the storage, distribution, circulation, and trade of drugs. In this chain, pharmaceutical warehouses constitute the cohesive and vital link between drug production and pharmacies open to the public and are associated with serving the Public Interest, as they are legally considered Public Services. For this reason, the author rightly devotes a significant part of the book to the functioning of pharmaceutical warehouses (private and cooperative). The issue of distribution, storage, and circulation of pharmaceutical products is analyzed and documented based on the provisions of Commercial and mainly Community law. The book's references to the peculiarities of Pharmaceutical Companies and companies exploiting pharmacies and pharmaceutical warehouses, issues that have undergone significant changes in recent years, are particularly valuable, combining the perspective of Pharmaceutical Legislation with the logic of Commercial Law. Finally, the book provides extremely useful information with references to the case law of the Courts. The reader and researcher of the manual become acquainted with the complex process of pharmaceutical care, the policies of pharmaceutical companies, and the regulations set by Regulatory Authorities in close interaction with social policy on pharmaceutical expenses at the level of European countries.

This work is a useful and indispensable tool for those dealing with issues falling within the scope of pharmaceutical legislation, as it is the only manual that brings together the entirety of pharmaceutical law enriched with interpretation and rich explanatory comments by the author.
