In this work, the development of the concepts of assets, liabilities, income, expenses, accounting events, accounts, double-entry method, accounting books, accounting principles, and end-use accounting documents is being carried out.
We place special emphasis on the interpretation and use of accounting elements because we believe that in the professional field, few of today's students will become professional accountants to prepare accounting information, while almost all of them will become users of this accounting information.
We considered it appropriate to include basic elements of financial statement analysis using indicators, as well as introductory elements of companies, to serve the students of those departments that are only taught the basic accounting course throughout their studies. The purpose of this work is to become a useful aid to those who teach introductory courses in General Accounting and to demonstrate the extent to which modern industrial society relies on accounting.
This book was written using the sources mentioned in the bibliography as well as the author's many years of teaching experience, from teaching the Principles of General Accounting course, as a professor at the Athens TEI.
In this edition of the book, the same basic principles have been followed in the arrangement and development of its content, as previous reprints have shown that they meet the needs of the students to a satisfactory degree.
