This book attempts to provide a comprehensive overview of the academic field of International Relations, which, this year, 2019, marks one hundred years since the first university chair of international politics was established in Aberystwyth, Wales.

One of the main highlights of this book is its historical dimension, specifically how and when the various schools (theoretical paradigms) of International Relations emerged, the theories, concepts, and trends of international politics, something that is missing from most contemporary general works on International Relations, whether Greek or foreign.

Theories and approaches are presented in the form of a dialogue, akin to a debate, to give equal weight—or almost equal weight—to differing opinions. However, the book does not remain entirely neutral but discreetly takes a stance on various important theoretical issues, especially if they have a practical dimension, e.g., realism or liberalism, power politics or legitimized interstate relations, the absence of international ethics or international ethics, inherent aggressiveness or not, balance/balancing of power or not, traditional strategy or comprehensive security, conflict resolution with "zero-sum" or "positive-sum" (two winners), universal human rights or cultural relativism, ethnogenesis or national awakening, strict territorial integrity or secession under conditions, panoramic geopolitics with "enemies" and "friends" or critical geopolitics, etc.
