Description

Ioannina, 1960.

The thread of life, wrapped in thorns and pain, unexpectedly connects two little kids in one of Queen Frederica's child towns, Ziros. Fotis and Dionysis, along with Greece, go through their own Golgotha. Two terrified children's souls encounter harsh supervisors and group leaders, far from the embrace and safety of their mother. They become blood brothers and try to survive in a suffocating environment. Fotis turns into a wild beast, and his life is marked by escapes, wavering thoughts, love and hatred for his mother, and questioning life itself. Everything on the razor's edge, next to the lake of Kyra-Frosyni. The two children are lost in time. Life has not said its last word...

A unique journey through the History of Greece, during the years of the monarchy, the dictatorship, and the Metapolitefsi. A true, heart-wrenching story, through the eyes of the wild beast of Epirus, that shakes even the coldest reader.

Reviews

  • Excellent writing by Menios Sakellaropoulos, for the fictional depiction of a gripping true story. The biography of a man I was fortunate to know, and if I hadn't read the book, I could never imagine the past. A must-read book

One of the few books that enchanted me, moved me, appreciated the power of the soul, and hurt for all those children who only sought love... I recommend it without hesitation... just to think about how true the story is... Bravo to the author... deep appreciation for Mr. Fotis, an example of life for all of us.
