Description

Russia, 1911-1916

Militsa and Stana, daughters of the impoverished king of Montenegro, are forced to fulfill their duty to their father; to leave their ancestral home and go to St. Petersburg to marry men with prominent positions in the Romanov Court. From the very beginning, they feel rejected, as the aristocracy keeps them at a distance due to their provincial origin and their involvement in occultism. Undeterred, they decide to leave their mark by developing a relationship with the lonely, melancholic Tsarina Alexandra, with whom they have something in common: due to her own background, she is not fully accepted by the members of the Court.
After numerous failed attempts to bear a son and heir, the Tsarina is desperate and places her hopes in the special knowledge of the two siblings in magic.
The closer the two sisters get to the Tsarina and the imperial family, the more their prestige and power increase. The arrival of a spiritual shaman named Rasputin will irrevocably seal not only their own fate, but also the fate of Russia itself.

"The Witches of St. Petersburg" is an atmospheric historical novel, inspired by real characters, that tells the captivating story of two princesses at the Romanov Court, Tsarina Alexandra, and the legendary Rasputin.
