The Garmin Swim 2 is a GPS swimming smartwatch designed to track your heart rate, distance, pace, stroke count, SWOLF, and much more in the pool and open water.
It is primarily aimed at swimmers and athletes who want a reliable smartwatch to monitor their performance during swimming.
Additionally, it is suitable for those who want a durable and waterproof watch that can withstand harsh weather conditions.
Heart Rate from the Wrist
See your heart rate underwater without the chest strap. Check your heart rate on your wrist while swimming and at rest. After swimming, view detailed data on the Garmin Connect app.
Open water mode
Use the built-in GPS and train in lakes, seas, and rivers while recording distance, pace, distance, stroke count, and SWOLF.
Pool Mode
Dive into the water and start recording distance, pace, stroke count and type, and SWOLF. Take advantage of advanced pool features like automatic rest.
Critical Swim Speed
Guide your training and track your progress when you know your critical swim speed, which approaches the speed of the anaerobic threshold.
Performance Tracking
Keep data from heart rate zones, calories, aerobic and anaerobic benefits, and much more to train smarter and harder.
Stress Tracking
Discover whether you have a calm, balanced, or intense day. Relaxation reminders will suggest you do a short breathing exercise.
Multi-GNSS Support
With access to multiple global satellite navigation systems (GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo), you will know how far and fast you have swum in open water.
Long battery life
The internal, rechargeable battery provides up to 7 days of autonomy in smartwatch mode, 13 hours in GPS mode and heart rate monitoring with optical sensor (OHR), and 72 hours in pool mode and heart rate monitoring with optical sensor (OHR).

I have been using it for 3 years exclusively for amateur swimming in a 25m pool, 4 training sessions a week and 3-5km in each session. I am absolutely satisfied with the watch, it almost never misses meters, while the heart rate display is very useful for me to ensure that I stay within safe heart rates.
In the last two summers, I have also used it in open water. The combination of GPS + Galileo is quite accurate, it locks on quickly (in a few seconds), and it records the correct route that I follow.
I use it a little outside of swimming, always with the GPS off and continuous synchronization with the phone, so the battery easily lasts me 3-4 training sessions. Also, the accompanying app is great, with quite useful statistics that allow me to identify mistakes and areas for improvement.
The only negative point is the poor support from Garmin in Greece. When I needed a replacement strap for the Swim 1, I was told that support for that specific model had stopped, and if I couldn't find a strap from some store stock, I would essentially have to render a functional watch useless because its strap broke.
Using two satellite systems, GPS and Galileo, it accurately tracks the position. I tested it on a track of a few meters. In a 25-meter pool without GPS, it occasionally deviated.
I have it here for 1.5 years and my personal opinion is that the device is great for its price. I mainly use it to measure distances in the pool and it accurately measures the meters without losing or adding more than I have done. If that happens, it's my fault. At first, until I realized how it actually measures, it could add 50-100 meters each time. Its battery lasts for 2-3 workouts maximum (with GPS enabled and usage throughout the day) - it could be better but for its price, I consider it okay (I bought it for around 200 euros).
I got it in the summer of 2020 and this year I got the Xiaomi Wear because the battery only lasts for a workout of 2 to 3 hours of cycling or a 6km walk along with synchronization and then it doesn't last for an hour more. The battery is terrible!!! Stay away!!! I got screwed!!!
The workouts include swimming in a pool & open sea, running, cycling, and aerobic exercises. I chose it mainly for cycling and swimming, and for anything else I did like dancing, core exercises, etc. I would count it as aerobic. However, the Garmin app has more sports but for more expensive watches!!!
Stay away!!! There are better and cheaper options without compromising on quality. For example, to see how many exercises the Xiaomi Wear has, download the corresponding app and you will be amazed at its value for money!!! With a larger screen, larger battery, I have had it for 12 days now with 27 different types of workouts along with their synchronization and topic switching, and it's at 33%!!! Day and night!!!
I am a swimming champion and I have been using this for 1 year. There is no inaccuracy in its measurements. Maybe you are not swimming correctly or you are constantly stopping. I have experienced it showing 1050 instead of 1000 meters, which doesn't make any difference as it still accurately records the times. If it shows more meters, you should check your technique.
Negatives: When I sprint, the heart rate is incorrect because the watch moves on my wrist and with the wrist movement, the scanner does not touch my hand. It's not a problem with the watch, it just needed to be noted.
Since I wear it 24/7, my wrist has developed a callus where I wear the watch and it has turned white. I would suggest changing the wrist occasionally.
Positives: Very easy menu, the battery, although advertised for 72 hours, I am almost certain that I charge it every 5 days without any issues (when connected to the phone or when the setting to search for the phone is active, the battery drains).
Unacceptable, the GPS does not measure correctly while running here on the road and shows that I am running in the forest. It takes a long time to lock with the satellite and generally the measurements are wrong at least 40% of the time.
In general, it is comfortable, the battery lasts for several days, and there are many options in the menu.
Bottom of the pool measures more than 15%!!!? more meters, my wife's honor magic that costs 80 euros is not losing at all in the pool much better and in many other aspects, today I took it to the Garmin service, also in the sea whatever, I delete straight lines and it shows that I went to the car and came back for example..whatever and in the measurements I imagine, I gave it today because no matter how much I charge it shows that it has no battery, let me tell you what happened next, with the dealership I spoke on the phone I don't see much Garmin..too bad I had the perfect swim in the pool and of course I'm craving the fenix 5 and 6 at some point I will get it, it also depends on the treatment of the dealership now to see, I have read the best about it but I have experienced the worst, without any interest only to disclaim their responsibilities, they are not interested, unfortunately my ears have experienced these things.
Absolutely inaccurate in pool measurements, the GPS in open water was fine when I tried it. In the pool, it randomly adds 50 meters to each workout. In my usual 2.5km training, there will be an additional 100 to 500 extra meters added each time, as it "sees" extra laps for no reason. So all its statistics are completely useless. After doing the same thing for over 2 months and more than 20 workouts, I took it to the dealership and they told me there is no issue. Given that it is the 3rd swimming tracker I have used and the most expensive one (the first Garmin I tried), I know that other trackers, much more affordable ones, ultimately do a better job. I bought it for an upgrade, but it is simply unacceptable.
