After their liberation, some of them did not know their names, their age, or their origin. Almost all were orphans. For decades, Alvin Maier searched, with great patience, to find the children of Auschwitz, he spoke empathetically with them and gained their trust. Some of them spoke for the first time about life in the camp, about their childhood, where death was always present but never natural.
