Reprint of the classic handbook of Modern Greek Grammar that was first published in 1976, immediately after the historic decision of the then government to establish the demotic language as the language of all levels of Education, a book that is connected like no other with the official resolution of the language issue. As the subtitle states, it is an Adaptation of the Small Modern Greek Grammar by Manolis Triantafyllidis, which he had published himself in 1949. The Committee that was formed to oversee the compilation of the book consisted of M. Stasinopoulos, Petros Haris, Emm. Kriaras, L. Politis, Ag. Tsopanakis, and Al. Karanikolas (who was also the president of the relevant working group).

This edition is a reprint, with the permission of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs, of the 1983 edition in the monotonic system by OEDB. The book is no longer distributed in schools, but the Institute deemed it necessary to ensure that this emblematic book continues to be available to educators and students.
