The mystical nature of Greek folk songs, especially the paraloge, is a widespread and generalized phenomenon. This study deals with songs that are primarily of a mystical nature, in which we encounter traces of main mystical myths, such as the myth of the struggle with the monster, the myth of heroic and primarily victorious struggle with numerous enemies, the warrior spirit, the swallowing by the monster and the related theme of drowning in the sea, or myths referring to adolescent and marital initiation, dangerous journeys and passages, mystical teaching, as well as the common myth in most songs of temporary, mystical death.

For the purposes of the research, the material of the folk songs was organized into two separate categories. The first concerns ritual songs and mythical paraloges, heroic or not, dedicated to a main mystical episode, which is examined separately, along with the various songs dedicated to it. The second group refers to complex paraloges, which contain multiple traces from various mystical myths and episodes, which are examined by song themes.
