Above all, it is a country whose extreme poverty, civil wars, and even the devastating destruction caused by the tsunami of December 2004 on its vast coastline, were not enough to lift it out of the obscurity in which the poorest parts of this planet are condemned. It took a particularly active piracy the following year after the catastrophic tsunami to fall upon this fragmented country, distorted by the lenses of the international media.
