Words are unnecessary. This pedal on a tube amplifier (or tube preamp) will produce a tone that cannot be easily compared. It's like the sound glides. And this is only the drive mode. Put the gain at 7 (just a little to the left of it) and volume at maximum, and you have a perfect boost pedal.
I will start with the negatives: it is not an overdrive pedal, in the traditional sense of the term. It doesn't exactly provide a boost, and it doesn't resemble the spark booster at all, but rather the dark matter. I thought it would be a transparent drive, something like the timmy. Instead, it is a crunch channel, transparent indeed, meaning that depending on the amplifier it is connected to, it will capture that tone. However, I cannot make it work as an overdrive on any amplifier or preamp, only on a clean channel. So, if you are looking for a drive that will provide gain or boost on a clean, crunch, or lead channel, look elsewhere. It is only useful as an extra channel for low to medium gain distortion. With the gain turned all the way up, it starts to sound like a fuzz, similar to a rat. The only difference between this and the dark matter is in the gain; the latter starts like the mojo from 1/4 of the gain (and ends with +1/4 and extra noise though).
With the gain at 0, it is relatively clean, not completely clean, but in this setting, its volume lacks headroom. It needs to be almost at maximum for unity, so it doesn't offer much as a clean boost. The only other use I found for it is for boosting bass frequencies. As for its construction, it is very good, and the switch appears to be of high quality
Very good pedal for its price and features. Visually, it is very beautiful with a sturdy construction and nice switches/potentiometers that are relatively "heavy". You can create very nice overdriven/distorted sounds in combination with a clean or dirty channel of the amplifier. It has very low noise compared to others in its category, as long as you don't have too much gain from the amplifier. It is also suitable for almost all genres of music. From a simple overdriven blues, to a full hard rock/metal sound. I highly recommend it!
