Our starting point is realistic. We are part of the crisis and rearrangement generation, certainly influenced by the ideas of the older ones, who have supported and formulated questions and proposals for a reassessment of the role of the arts in education.
In the book, we deal with the craziest theater in the world, puppet theater, which we serve by teaching it and teaching through it. We consistently sought to record and see where we really are, looking back, commenting and revising. Certainly our answers to the questions that exist can only be a few. We could not, after all, cover all those places where the dolls of the puppet theater live, nor all those different traditions of time, the theatrical, cultural, but also the educational practices they carry. Can we influence their relationship with education?
We reached our destination feeling equally realistic and utopian. We insist that the old ancient Greek distinction between human intervention in action and in poetry clarifies the ways in which the arts - and puppet theater - function effectively in education. We insist that the dynamics of this function shift the "self-evident" constants of traditional education, which are now being questioned from many sides. And we expect to see if the evolving trend of strengthening these functions, presented and implemented by the case of puppet theater in education, will shift, as we may hope utopianly, the characteristics of self-organization of education.
