It sharpens the knives, I won't deny that, to a very good degree, but it doesn't make them razor-sharp. Maybe I believed that such a sharpener would make them razor-sharp, but it's not true. Anyway, I tried to sharpen another brand's hatchet, but it didn't fit. Maybe they have calculated the gap only for their own brand's hatchets. If I were to buy again, I would choose another brand that obviously has taken care of all types of hatchets. There are similar ones in the market for both knives and hatchets.
