Description
It is about thirteen stories that unfold over a period of sixty years. That is, as long as the raisin crisis lasted, which plagued the villages of mountainous Aigialeia and disrupted the country in the early twentieth century, parallel to significant events such as the first major wave of migration, the Asia Minor Campaign, the Interwar period, and the two World Wars.
It is not folklore or a historical record, but only the dark stories of rural people who tried to fight something greater than themselves, always ignoring that redemption would come difficultly.
Makina is the name of the raisin separator. A large wooden machine, where the raisins are poured on the top and the fruits are separated from the branches at the bottom. In this paper Makina, people and fates are mixed with major historical events, but also with everyday harsh stories, and the result that comes out at the bottom of the machine is shattered lives and human ruins separated from the initial dream that turned into a nightmare.

Reviews
Amazing book that captivates, moves, and fascinates. It depicts the Greek reality in its darkest aspects with exceptional writing. I was sure that the author was a part of that era and had experienced what he narrates. His age was a surprise. Also, the book "MAKINA" contains words that constitute a real treasure (forgotten) of the Greek language.
