"Mesnevi" is the masterpiece of Jalal ad-Din Rumi. It consists of six books written over forty-three years. It cannot be analyzed as a poetic work due to the special complexity of its ideas, form, and presentation. It contains funny stories, myths, conversations, references to previous teachers, various parables, interpretations of Quranic texts, metaphysical concepts, and moral exhortations.
"Mesnevi" is a unique artistic form through which Rumi exercises the mind, thought, and contemplation. It is the mirror that the reader holds to see within it the power of the language of the text, which causes a strange elevation of the reader's consciousness.
In "Mesnevi," all the known monotheistic religions coexist, Jesus, Moses, and Muhammad. At many points, one has the feeling of reading Plato, Plotinus, and understanding the deeper and incomprehensible meanings of Greek philosophy thanks to the popularized narration of the great poet.
