O Antony Giddens, one of the most important thinkers in the field of social sciences, became known in our country as the "guru" of Tony Blair and as the main theorist of the Anglo-Saxon version of the so-called Third Way - a way that tries to overcome, within capitalism, the current impasses of neoliberal and conventional social democratic thinking.
In this study, the author argues that Giddens' recent work is not, like the ideological platform of Blairism, an ad hoc mixture of elements of neoliberalism and old social democratic ideology. It has a strict structure and an internal logic based on an interesting theory of reflexive modernization and the type of individualism that stems from it.
On the other hand, the author comments on the weaknesses of Giddens' analysis and shows how we could, based on the critique of his work, develop an alternative strategy to overcome the current crisis. This effort is based on the belief of N. Mouzelis that between neoliberal and old social democratic ideology there is not one but many Third Ways.
