The truth is that it is a very elegant blanket. It is quite heavy for what you see. In terms of warmth, I wouldn't say it is what someone expects based on the impressions the photos give. Obviously, though, if you put it under a (blanket) duvet, you will be quite warm and very comfortable as its texture is velvety.
