"The Secret Ladder of the Monks" is considered one of the most important spiritual, classic texts. Its author is Guigo II the Carthusian (12th century), the ninth prior of the Grande Chartreuse, one of the most ascetic places in the Catholic Church.
By reading the text, the modern reader discovers a secret spiritual exercise
of the Middle Ages, known as Lectio Divina (Divine Reading), which, through
four stages or steps, using reading in a special way, leads to the revelation of Divine Truths.
