The analysis evaluates international relations as a subject of scientific study in Greece and abroad, examining the specifications of international studies at an academic level. It interests everyone, especially political leadership, military personnel, journalists, state officials, students, parents of students studying international relations in Greece or abroad, and university professors in other fields of social science. Among many other things, issues such as the content of doctoral dissertations, the pitfalls of deciding to pursue postgraduate studies abroad or in Greece, the teaching of international relations in the Armed Forces, the professional orientation of prospective international relations experts, and the social utility of international studies are examined. The analysis explores the deeper formative forces of national-state development: on one hand, there are a) the institution of national-state freedom, b) international institutions, and c) international law as anti-hegemonic achievements of human civilization in international relations, while on the other hand, there are the causes of war, especially unequal development, hegemony, and the periodic internationalist and cosmopolitan monitoring thereof. The author provides reliable and valid insights into the socio-political ontology of international relations and the knowledge necessary for every informed citizen regarding the role of power under conditions of international anarchy, the phenomenon of war, international institutions, international law, collective security, the causes of war, international interventions, the fundamental cosmological background of nation-states, the nature of national-state ethical-regulatory structures, and the destabilizing role of hegemonic rivalries. By examining the trajectory of international relations from antiquity to the present, the author includes several sections on the war against Iraq in 2003, the Annan Plan and its ideological-political implications, and the crisis of identity in Europe due to the war in Iraq. The book juxtaposes and highlights the assimilative internationalist, cosmopolitan, and hegemonic doctrines against the nation-state as an institution of freedom, a regime for regulating the international system, and a foundation of the political culture of international relations. The book includes a special chapter on the Armed Forces, where, among other things, their role in the modern world, military diplomacy, the content of international studies in military academies, and the relationship between political leadership and military leadership in a democratic state are examined. The author argues that the ultimate purpose of every state is to ensure internal and external sovereignty, namely the collective freedom of its citizens, and the Armed Forces serve the fundamental purpose of freedom and prosperity for a country.
