  This review is about the type kit: Kit (EF-S 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 DC III)

  The Canon EOS 4000D is an excellent choice for beginners. I purchased it in December 2023 and I am very satisfied. It is ideal for those who want to take photos while traveling or for everyday use, without being intended for professional use.

  Its main positive features are:

  18.9 Megapixel Sensor: Provides high resolution for clear and detailed photos.

  9 Focus Points: Ensure accurate and fast focusing in various lighting conditions.

  EF and EF-S Mount: Compatible with almost all Canon lenses, offering great flexibility in your photos.

  Flash Hot Shoe: Supports only Canon flashes (I have the Speedlite 380 EX from an old film camera).

  Personally, I use it for simple use. The lens that comes with it is very good for learning the basic functions of the camera. I also have two other EF lenses, the 75-300 and the 28-80, which come from an old film camera.

  When I first got it, I didn't use the manual mode, which was a big mistake. I only used the auto mode because I was too lazy to adjust the settings. The photos I took at first were not good at all. Some were over-exposed and others were under-exposed. Until I started using the manual mode. Since I started using the manual mode, my photos have improved significantly. I highly recommend anyone to try the manual mode to have full control over their shots and to learn more about photography.

  Regarding Video:

  As for video, the Canon EOS 4000D is not the best choice. It can shoot in 1080p at 24/25/30 fps and in 720p at 60 fps. There are not many options and most importantly, it does not have autofocus during video recording. Although I don't often shoot videos, when I did, I noticed the following negatives:

  Lack of Dual Pixel AF: The autofocus is not as good as in other Canon cameras, which is expected for a beginner camera.

  Small Screen: The 2.7-inch screen with 900,000 pixels resolution is not very good, making it difficult to view photos and videos.

  Fixed Screen: The screen does not articulate, making it difficult to shoot videos or selfies and making vlogging challenging.

  Lack of External Microphone Jack: Without the ability to connect an external microphone, the sound quality is not good. I recommend using your phone for audio recording.

  Conclusion:

  In conclusion, the Canon EOS 4000D is very good for beginners. It offers an excellent sensor, sufficient focus points, and support for EF and EF-S lenses, making it ideal for photography. The ability to shoot in raw format is also a big advantage that is rarely found in this price range. For video, it is average due to the lack of Dual Pixel AF and the limited screen and sound capabilities, which is where it loses one star. However, for someone starting out, it is an excellent choice that can help them learn the basics of photography.

  I would like to emphasize that this is my first camera and I have been using it up until now, and this review is from the almost first year of owning this camera.

  I don't understand why someone wouldn't choose this camera and go for more expensive ones.
  In more expensive ones, I see that they have the ability to take photos faster and have faster autofocus, etc... but they become much more expensive.
  I don't understand why the video quality has to be so mediocre and inferior to that of a cheaper mobile phone, without OIS (image stabilization), etc...
  The lens only has a 3x zoom, and the nice thing is that even in more expensive ones, usually the zoom is not better.
  The good thing is that it gives us many more possibilities in the way of taking photos compared to a good mobile phone, but overall... looking at it, I still don't understand the reason for the existence of cameras for amateur use when a decent mobile phone is light years better, especially in video recording.

  Bought in October 2019 for purely amateur use. Very good and easy to use, I would say. It's incredibly worth the money, especially if you have learned some things from YouTube, shoot raw in manual mode, and learn a bit from Lightroom. It was elevated by an old Helios 44m 4 and a Tair 11a 135mm from the M42 to Canon EOS adapter family, worth 18-20€. A hobbyist friend with a Sony camera worth 1000€ envies the photos with the swirly bokeh that this Helios lens produces. The kit 18-55 is rarely used, only when I want a wide shot.

  I am something more than an amateur but not a professional. I have been using a DSLR for 5 years and this was my first one.
  If you are beginners, I suggest you prefer to buy such a camera for a maximum of 500 euros. Why: You learn more easily, quickly, and effectively how to handle the camera because it is more user-friendly than a prime lens. Once you get familiar with the camera and think you have mastered it, find the reasons why you want a camera and then you can move on to a better one or a lens. It is a good period to learn how to handle it, as now with the quarantine, you can sit down and study the manual and various reviews and settings for good photos. Then you can move on to the practical part.
  The camera is a budget DSLR that is for beginners. The autofocus is not the best for those who are quite familiar with it, but a beginner will realize it after 8 months +. This is not a reason not to get it because if you have patience, you can take a great shot. The f-stop is variable when zooming in. That is, when you zoom, the quality is quite low, while when you zoom out or in the normal range, it is normal. If you want to take a picture of your dog from afar, it won't be a good shot if you want to zoom. Everything else is fine. Conclusion. It is a very good choice if you are beginners, once you find the "specialization" then you will buy accordingly. For example, if you want to take pictures of animals from afar, you will get a high-quality fixed zoom lens. I hope I helped :)

  Good camera. I got it for amateur use. After two years of use, I decided to evaluate it because only then can you draw very clear conclusions. So, I noticed that over time it presented some problems with enlargement (when I zoomed in, it became a bit blurry and didn't produce a very clear image). I took it to a specialist and they told me that the lens was to blame for this. I changed the lens and it really improved. Conclusion, you keep it for two to three years and then get a better lens. I don't know if this has happened to others.

  I got the camera to take photos in automatic mode. I didn't feel like learning how to work it in manual mode because I thought it was a science (!!) until I saw an unboxholics video. In 53 minutes, I learned the basics and it gave the camera and me double the capabilities! I'm obsessed with photography and I've already bought 2 extra lenses that help in conditions like low lighting (e.g. 50mm). A very good choice for anyone who wants to start with photography and doesn't want to spend a fortune or wants to take better photos than the ones we take with our phones.

  Classic entry level DSLR, the construction is made of plastic which is not of bad quality unfortunately, but the mount for the lenses is also made of plastic, so it is more vulnerable to falls, etc.

  The menu is quite easy and with a little searching you can find everything, the only "downside" is that connecting it to your phone can be a bit confusing and the app could be better.

  In terms of image quality, it is quite good in conditions with good lighting and for social media, etc. On the other hand, when there is not enough light, it struggles with focus and requires patience to capture something, however, it can surprisingly do a good job (1 out of 5 attempts).

  Video is uninteresting to bad and unfortunately, the screen is quite poor!
  Battery life is very good.

  For someone who wants to learn to play with settings and enter the world of photography, it is a good choice! However, it is a shame that even in the beginning of 2019 it was priced at 310 euros when it had previously been sold for 270!

  It is my 1st DSLR and the use I make of it is purely amateur for now. Lightweight construction, very convenient in hand, but also hanging around the neck is ok.

  With the 18-55, if you experiment with the various functions (landscape, portrait, sports, etc.), you can achieve satisfactory results for everyday, simple use. The same of course applies to any lens, just with a larger one, for example with the 55-250, the result is really close to excellent, the capabilities increase exponentially.

  You can easily and quickly transfer photos to your mobile with a good memory card, via wifi and the application.

  I consider its videos without a grip/tripod to be somewhat disappointing, and that is the main reason why I deducted one star.

  Also, recently I tried a Nikon of similar value, with similar functions, and if I had the choice today between the two, I might choose the Nikon, where I saw truly infinite possibilities for improving the shooting with the huge ISO range.

  Nevertheless, it remains a very good choice for its price.

  Another honest proposal from Canon. A basic DSLR that doesn't lack quality features. It's worth every penny, especially now after Canon's amazing offer. With the addition of IS lenses, the optics become even better and you have the opportunity to try out a variety of fixed and zoom lenses at very reasonable prices for our time. The 18mp covers 90%+ of the amateur photographer's needs. The negatives are the plastic lens mount, manual flash activation, and the low ISO up to 6400. However, the image quality, although not visible in practice, is still a drawback. It's a great purchase for entering the DSLR CANON SYSTEM. On the positive side, it allows for transferring captured photos via WIFI.
