"For Christians, even mathematics were suspicious. In the 4th century in Emesa, they did not want Eusebius as a bishop because he studied mathematics. Geometry and other sciences are considered literally godless activities. The ecclesiastical historian Eusebius attacks "heretics," saying that "by despising the sacred texts of God, they engage in geometry; because they are people of the earth, they speak an earthly language and do not know Him who comes from heaven. They zealously study the geometry of Euclid. They admire Aristotle and Theophrastus. Some even almost worship Galen." Christian theology particularly condemned the natural sciences."
