Like most people, I also bought the game for the nostalgia factor since it's a remake of Yellow. Nice graphics and sound. The system with wild encounters is great, as you can see the Pokemon you'll encounter and avoid them if you don't want to battle. The way they combined HidenMoves with your Partner is fun, so you don't have to have a "slave Pokemon" that you would use for all of them. The mechanic of riding specific Pokemon on land, sea, and air is also really cool. They've included mega evolutions too! The Pokemon Boxes are gone and now you can change your party from anywhere and have access to all the Pokemon you've caught. I don't understand why some people are bothered that all Pokemon gain experience. It's a positive that you can rematch Gym Leaders and other specific trainers once a day. You can also determine the nature of the Pokemon you encounter once a day. I didn't like the way to catch wild Pokemon at all, it's like Pokemon Go, yes it's something different but for me it wasn't something that "worked". There's no hold items (something I discovered late) but it didn't bother me much. I would have liked to see weather changes and day/night cycles, something that doesn't exist. Unfortunately, there aren't many things to do in the post game. I really can't imagine who would chase after the master trainers, definitely not me...

Positive:
-The graphics are excellent.
-It is as difficult as it should be (Only the first Gym is easy and then it gets somewhat difficult, whoever wants more difficulty can avoid using Pokemon with advantage/super effectiveness in Gyms).
-Finally, no more wild battles, the system for catching Pokemon is similar to Pokemon Go.
-If someone fails to catch a legendary Pokemon, luckily it doesn't disappear completely, but reappears if you defeat the Elite 4.
-You have motivation to catch Pokemon because they give you a lot of XP.
-Finally, the old tiresome system of needing HM slaves is gone. Now, Strength/fly/surf, etc. do not take up move slots.
-The new feature of being able to interact with the Pokemon outside of the pokeball is very good, for example, you can ride on Charizard.

Negative:
-Battles with trainers are now a waste of time, they give very little XP because it is divided among your whole party. If you catch Pokemon instead of battling trainers, you get more XP, and you don't need to constantly run to the Pokemon Center or waste potions.
-The Sevii Islands are not included... very unfortunate.
-The Safari has been removed.
-There aren't many things to do after the Elite 4.
-It doesn't have Pokemon from Gen 2 like in Fire Red/Leaf Green.
-There are no puzzles of any kind like in previous Pokemon games.
-The Pokemon in the Elite 4 are a mess. Agatha, who is a ghost type, only has 2 ghost Pokemon, and Lance, who is a Dragon type, has... only 1 dragon Pokemon

You read comments like "objectively this, objectively that" and you really wonder if it's worth wasting your time reading reviews. Objectively, (...) the game is beautiful, it covers the nostalgia of the first generation of Pokémon, it makes it seem more interactive than the first cartridges (it's not, it just gives you that feeling), it has beautiful graphics, the concept of seeing the Pokémon is something new (it can't be exactly compared to Pokémon Go, we're talking about different concepts). It lacks in battles in terms of difficulty (for multiplayer, it's highly negative that you have to pay/exchange online). HOWEVER, the attack effects in battles are awesome. (although you get bored of them relatively quickly once you get used to them) - you can simply disable them afterwards to save time. The game is a success and the numbers speak for themselves. Now, if someone doesn't like it, that's not objective.
Conclusion: 8-9/10. I'm a Pokémon fan since I was a kid, of course. Of course, someone who hasn't played in the past will find the in-game help quite useful. Don't be discouraged by 'objective' reviews.

First of all, let me clarify that I have played all the games from the first generation of the Game Boy era up until now (Sword-Shield). Being a big fan of the series and having a lot of experience with Pokémon games, I have the following to say about this particular title:

Positives:
- It is a beautiful remake of the first generation in terms of graphics. Of course, this was expected because we are now talking about 2018 and the Nintendo Switch, not the Game Boy.
- The nostalgia it creates is something else and in my opinion, it is the main reason to buy this game.
- Finally, you can have all three starter Pokémon together and catch them along the way.

Negatives:
Unfortunately, there are many negatives and I don't know where to start. Honestly, I don't know if it's better to play this game in 2021 on the Switch or to take out the Game Boy from the closet, insert one of the old cartridges, and play it there!
- Let me start with the main disadvantage, which is how you catch Pokémon. It's simply ridiculous. You stand there, the Pokémon moves around and looks at you, and you just throw pokeballs at it one after the other. And if you want to increase your chances, you give it berries and then throw pokeballs again. Until at some point, it might get caught, otherwise it might run away. Just like Pokémon Go. The thing is, catching Pokémon used to be a nice process where you weakened the Pokémon first and then caught it to complete the Pokédex or because you wanted to train it or trade it. Here, it has become a boring and annoying process that you do out of necessity to get XP for your Pokémon and collect candies, since there are no wild Pokémon battles in this game, so you have no other choice. I understand that this happens in Pokémon Go since it is an application intended for a wider audience. But to release a game with these mechanics is disrespectful to the fans.
- There is no breeding. I read it and couldn't believe it. And yet, it's true. For example, if you have an Arbok and want an Ekans, you have to trade or bring it from Pokémon Go.
- To summarize what is missing, because there are quite a few and forgive me if I forget something. There are not even half of the battle moves, Pokémon don't have abilities, they can't hold items. The only available balls are pokeball, great ball, ultra ball, master ball, and premier ball. There is no time, therefore no moves like sunny day. The berries are limited to those in Pokémon Go. There are no Pokémon boxes, resulting in chaos with the Pokémon you have caught.
- Why do Pokémon that didn't participate in a battle still gain experience points? I don't understand that.
- Another negative that bothered many people is that it is a remake poorer than the previous remakes about 15 years ago in Fire Red - Leaf Green. Once you finish the championship, there is nowhere else to go.
- The master trainers at the end are simply uninteresting because no one is going to bother defeating all of them. It's pointless.

Finally, I would like to mention again that in my opinion, the only reason to buy this game is if you are a "veteran" and want to experience nostalgia. Otherwise, it's just a game that is not worth it. I consider it a disgrace to the series, and this was evident from its sales, which have not been good so far. Instead of trying to attract people from Pokémon go, it would be better for them to focus on the long-time fans and create something more high-quality. And fortunately, they seem to have understood that since the sword-shield games are "regular" Pokémon games!
