Description

Historical and cultural research, lasting two years, which was conducted for the first time in the Greek Secretariat. It is a unique work that highlights the world of spirit and culture and the authors and poets of the region of Locris from antiquity to the present day.

It is an important bibliography that records the life and literary work of about 400 ancient, modern, and contemporary Locris writers and poets. From antiquity, the Opountians and Epicnemidians Locris have been registered. It brings to light previously unknown information about Alkinoe and Nikon from Throne, Philodamos from Scarphia, and his siblings Epigenes and Mantida, Axiopistos, Vakchylidis the Opountian, Philippos the Opountian, Charilaos the Locris, and others.

Among the modern ones, the dominant position is held by the short-lived Prime Minister of Greece and Minister for many years Athanasios Eutaxias and his brother Ioannis Eutaxias, a university professor, the two great anatomists of our country Georgios Sklavounos and Miltiadis Papamiltiadis, the agronomist and writer Manthos Christoforou, the Vice President of the Council of State and University Professor Athos Tsoutsos, etc. Among the contemporary ones, the dominant position is held by the world-renowned and radiating nuclear physicist Kostas Tsipis, the theater and cinema critic, poet and writer Kostas Georgousopoulos, the philologist, writer and former Director of the Pedagogical Academy of Lamia Triantafyllos Papanagiotou, the educator and prolific writer Kostas Karastathis, the emerging young writer Demosthenes Papamarkos, etc.

The book is structured into eight chapters according to the chronological periods during which these intellectual individuals were born, lived, and created. It is a significant work for historians and researchers, but also a useful tool for secondary education students and especially for students of philological university departments.
