This book presents new research topics on Greece and the Cold War, which also follow the corresponding trends in international literature. Contemporary interpretations of the Cold War insist that it was not only a "strategic dilemma," but also a gigantic conflict concerning ideology, the evolution of societies, and the crisis of legitimizing power. The present book covers both dimensions, the strategic and the ideological. An additional thematic axis is the "Cold War lens": the term primarily refers to the particular interests of the superpowers, which led them to perceive the problems of the developing world through their own needs. However, such "lenses" also existed in the perceptions of the smaller members of the international system - in the case of Greece, the Cyprus issue is a clear example. Furthermore, the study of the "cultural Cold War" has rapidly developed in recent years, and this book contains significant interventions on the Greek dimension of the topic. Finally, in an era where modern literature is moving at a rapid pace in the study of the 1960-1980 decades, the volume emphasizes this later phase of the Cold War, expanding the temporal boundaries of the study.
