The starting point of the history of Pontic Hellenism sinks into the beginning of the legend of the Argonaut expedition. And this legend has its origin in the myth of Phrixus and Helle, with the golden fleece. This ancient heritage of Pontic Hellenism, which developed on the southern coasts of the Black Sea, through the flourishing cities of Trebizond, Giresun, Kotyora, Sinope, and Heraclea, is recorded in a stunning journey and on-site research achieved over several years. The photographic lens traces inaccessible points and captures the contemporary reality, as it was shaped after the compulsory population exchange, signed on January 30, 1923, in Lausanne. The rare illustrative material is accompanied and explained by texts from distinguished scholars.
