The daily police bulletin records daily incidents, but the reader rarely gives them a second glance. The poet Kostas Varnalis, during the years he wrote a daily chronicle for the newspapers "Proia", "Proodeftikos Fileleftheros", "Proodeftiki Allagi" and "Avgi" (1939-1957), dedicated several of his texts to the micro-news of the police bulletin.
Nikos Sarantakos, editor and commentator of the Chronographs and other articles by K. Varnalis, which have been preserved since 2013 by Archive Editions, has selected 265 of these chronicles for this edition.
Petty crimes, frauds, murders, crimes of passion, illegal activities, thieves and policemen, are all described with Varnalis' well-known humor and commented on with his social sensitivity and understanding towards human weakness. The image of the era, once again, does not differ so much from today's.
