The Greek economy today shows critical weaknesses and there are serious questions as to whether the development and convergence towards the European Union achieved in previous years can continue at the same pace.
In the current political reality, the question dominates how we can find a strategy capable of giving new impetus to the dynamics of convergence, but at the same time addressing positively a series of intense social issues that have meanwhile intensified. In the coming years, we need to return with new political terms and proposals in order to meet the need to pursue strong development in combination with strengthening social cohesion. To strengthen competitiveness and market efficiency in combination with regulatory supervision and goals of mass employment and solidarity. To achieve this, two conditions are required: First of all, to open the discussion about what can be the new sources of development in the coming years both in Greece and in the European Union. At the same time, and equally demanding, we need a new Social Support Network which must also have innovative characteristics compared to previous social policies implemented.
This book attempts to contribute to a public discussion on how the Center-Left in Greece can shape a timely and reliable "Greek Model of Development and Cohesion" in order to strengthen the dynamics of prosperity and employment, and at the same time accelerate the slow convergence of our country towards Europe.
