The main purpose of the school lesson of Ancient Greek Language is educational and humanistic. The central axis of this lesson is the communication of students with the intellectual creation of the ancient Greeks. By approaching Ancient Greek Language from the original, Gymnasium students discover that the modern Greek language has its roots in the ancient one and is a continuation and evolution of it; thus, they acquire a deeper knowledge of the Greek language and clarify their linguistic code.
They familiarize themselves with ancient Greek texts and practice their direct and experiential understanding. They realize the common structural elements of ancient and modern Greek, as well as their differences. Mainly in the B' and C' part of each unit of the school book Ancient Greek Language A' Gymnasium, students become familiar with the structural elements (lexical and morphological) of the ancient Greek language.
Through the etymological connection of ancient and modern Greek, students reach a deeper knowledge of the lexical richness of their language.
The innovations of this aid book are the following:
- the answers to the exercises of the school book in an understandable and systematic way;
- the additional and cross-curricular exercises;
- the answers to the parallel texts of the school book;
- the suggested parallel texts;
