My associates and I are pleased to offer Greek readers a new English grammar that meets the requirements to be an essential tool for students learning the English language and for teachers teaching it, as well as a significant aid for those who refer to it.
Because the grammar is addressed to a broad readership, the great challenge for our team was that the grammar had to be both simple in style and topics, but also more detailed for more demanding readers.
Therefore, the essence of our grammar is defined by the following two elements: completeness and simplicity. That is, on the one hand, it presents a complete grammar, delving into depth and details, and on the other hand, it presents it in a simple and understandable way - also, written in Greek, the grammar is addressed to the Greek student and, knowing the points that create problems for them, it tries to clarify them and help them gradually understand how the English language works.
However, our grammar is also addressed to English language teachers: it emphasizes the stability of syntax, but does not remain in the laboratory application of rules; on the contrary, it simultaneously emphasizes the plasticity of the language and provides several aids for conveying this point during their teaching.
Before the endeavor, we asked ourselves the following two questions: Is there room in foreign language education for yet another English grammar? Is it possible for the new grammar to stand out from the rest, both in terms of content and effectiveness? We hope that the present grammar has achieved its goals and the answer to these questions is affirmative.
