It is a fact that zombie stories have always attracted the interest of the public worldwide through the screening of movies, with the most characteristic ones being those of George Romero (late 60s onwards), while nowadays TV productions such as the "Resident Evil" movies/video games and the series "Walking Dead" are considered extremely popular. However, in iWrite publications we thought that a zombie story is not exclusively about conspiracy scenarios and deadly viruses that emerge from secret laboratories...

Our country has a rich folklore tradition, with countless myths and legends, referring to incidents... of action involving undead creatures, from ancient Greece and the Middle Ages, to the period of Turkish rule and the beginning of the previous century. We thought that this tradition could easily serve as a source of inspiration for the writing of original zombie narratives... of Greek origin!

Through the announcement of a unique literary competition (the result of which is the collective volume you are holding), our goal was to give Greek writers the opportunity to showcase their talent, combining an emerging literary trend with Greek history, folklore, the unique cosmological perceptions of our people, and the contemporary reality that surrounds us, whether we live in urban centers or in the countryside.
